The Ultrasonic Jewellery Guide
How to choose the best ultrasonic jewellery cleaner
By SONIQ LABS · Updated 8 November 2026
The best cleaner is the one that suits your jewellery and your routine. Start with the pieces you own, then compare the machines.
Start with a reason to use one
If a gentle hand clean already gives you the result you want, you may not need a machine. An ultrasonic cleaner becomes more useful when you have suitable pieces with details that are awkward to clean by hand, or when you want a repeatable routine with less brushing.
First read the compatibility guide. A timer, a premium price or a particular frequency cannot make an unsuitable piece safe.
Six things to check on any shortlist
| Check | Ask the seller | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Usable space | What are the internal dimensions, with any basket fitted? | A capacity figure alone does not tell you whether a rigid bangle fits. |
| Jewellery guidance | Which materials and constructions are excluded? | Look for specific instructions, not “safe for all jewellery”. |
| Controls | Can I stop a cycle easily? What times are available? | A clear routine is more useful than a long list of settings. |
| Liquid and care | What liquid is permitted, and how do I empty and clean the tank? | Check everyday upkeep before choosing the device. |
| Evidence | Are demonstrations documented and comparisons like-for-like? | Different lighting can make before-and-after results misleading. |
| Support | What do the warranty and return terms actually cover? | Compare the terms, exclusions and contact route, not just a badge. |
Do not choose by frequency alone
Frequency tells you how often the sound oscillates. It does not, by itself, establish which finished machine cleans your jewellery best. Tank design, operating conditions and the item being cleaned also matter. Treat untested claims such as “twice the cleaning power” with care.
Keep the total cost in view
Compare the machine price, delivery, required consumables and likely use. Do not assume every professional clean costs money: some jewellers offer cleaning as part of their service. Ask your own jeweller before calculating savings.
A home-use option: SONIQ Clean

Our own device is listed at £119 and operates at 48 kHz. The official store describes cleaning cycles starting at three minutes. These are manufacturer specifications, not evidence that SONIQ outperforms another cleaner.
For suitable jewellery, it offers a compact home-cleaning routine. Check the current product details, care instructions and purchase terms before ordering.
